The history of The Play That Goes Wrong and Mischief Theatre
The Play That Goes Wrong has played at the Duchess Theatre on London’s West End since 2014, making it the West End’s longest running comedy. It also won the 2014 WhatsOnStage Award and 2015 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy . Outside of London, The Play That Goes Wrong has embarked on 5 UK tours, a stint on Broadway, and Australian and US tours.
Mischief Theatre, the company behind The Play That Goes Wrong, was founded in 2008 by a group of students from LAMDA. The group originally began by performing improvised comedy shows but eventually expanded to full comedic theatrical performances. As well as The Play That Goes Wrong, they also created Peter Pan Goes Wrong, The Comedy About a Bank Robbery, and Magic Goes Wrong. They even have featured on TV with A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong!

The cast of the Play That Goes Wrong includes Gavin Dunn as Trevor, Keith Ramsay (Preludes, Peter Pan) as Dennis, Iona Fraser (Dear Evan Hansen) as Annie, Ross Virgo (The Comedy About A Bank Robbery) as Max, Luke Dayhill as Jonathan, Daniel Cech-Lucas as Chris, Rolan Bell (Memphis, We Will Rock You) as Robert, and Lucy Doyle as Sandra.
The creative team is made up of Mark Bell as Director, Nigel Hook as Set Designer, Ric Mountjoy as Lighting Designer, Roberto Surace as Costume Designer, original music by Rob Falconer and Andy Johnson as Sound Designer.
